How to style bay windows

August 10th, 2020

Whilst bay windows are traditionally seen lining rows of well-loved Victorian terraces and period homes, they can also be found in contemporary spaces too. A bay window is a space that projects outwards from the main walls of a house and forms an arch within a room. They can be either square or polygonal in shape, making them a tad tricky to arrange a heating solution, or to style.

There are so many ways to utilise these spaces; either leaving them empty to enlarge your living space, create a reading nook, a cosy workspace or indoor plant haven. Bay windows are also stunning suntraps and you would be a fool not to make the most of the natural light pouring in. Thanks to the panoramic glass, sunlight can enter from different directions depending on where the sun sits throughout the day.

As mentioned, finding a heating solution to sit under a bay window can be a little tricky. That is, if you are looking somewhere other than Bisque for your rads!

At Bisque, we are proud to offer our customers not only a beautiful range of radiators to choose from, but also the option of bespoke made-to-measure products, designed specifically for you and your bay window measurements.

Our 'Bespoke' service, offers customers the option of made-to-order sizes on a range of our most popular radiators, including the Classic, Classic towel, Arteplano, and Finn. Whether you are working with a square or polygon, our trusty team will be able to create a bespoke rad to fit seamlessly underneath the edge of your bay windowsill.

But why bother with having a radiator wrap around the wall at all? Surely you can opt for a standard rad to fit in the middle? Of course, this is an option, however opting for a continuous radiator style that wraps around the wall will ultimately look more finished and add to the illusion of more space. It is a much more thoughtful design option that will elevate and complete your interior. At Bisque we see radiators as an investment, so it’s important to get it right.

Since a number of our radiators can be ordered in curved or angles options, we put together an instructional video on how to create your own bay window template. It is an incredibly easy and accurate method that ensures you get a perfect fit – and all it requires is a roll of paper and a marker.
