Bisque meets binge-worthy interiors

March 22nd, 2021

A particular highlight from the past year has been the prevalence of some seriously sumptuous interior styles on TV. We’ve loved being transported through the decades; be it to the retro 60s of ‘The Queens Gambit’, the sexy 70s of BBC’s ‘The Serpent’ or even the Regency-inspired locales of Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’; all of which are inspiring us to take a second look at our interiors.

Thankfully here at Bisque, we pride ourselves on design versatility, with various styles fit for any home and any look (even if that look is a 50-bedroom country estate with a three-wing servant’s quarters and two-story library belonging to the Featherington family!).

Kicking things off, the interiors featured in Beth Harmon’s 60s-esque home in Netflix hit ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ are a treat for the eyes. Featuring a myriad of patterns and colour, this show has inspired us to embrace maximalist, retro interiors in a thoroughly modern manner. We think our Classic is the perfect fit here, particularly in a bold, bright colourway with a clashing colour-block wallpaper. Another fantastic idea would be to pair patterned wallpapers with linear designs such as the Blok and Lissett, whose angularity works well in contrast to such animated patterns.

Next, we move onto The Serpent, and while Kanit House may not be Bangkok’s safest location, it certainly boasted some impressive mid-century decor. Recreate this eclectic look with an eye-catching 70s-style piece. The Hot Spring radiator is perfect in this instance, sporting a unique and entrancing cylindrical body, while the versatile Finn radiator’s clean lines and crisp elegance mean it is well-suited to bolder interior styles.

Finally, since Netflix dropped its Regency romance, Bridgerton, the show has been watched by an estimated 63 million households. Aside from the exquisite dresses and the rather dashing Duke of Hastings, we can’t get over the decadent, awe-inspiring interiors – from grand ballrooms to the muted pastel tones of the Bridgerton household’s drawing room, for which Bisque’s Balmoral is the perfect fit. Named after the royal house of the same name, it ties in with this pivotal period thanks to its perfect balance of modern engineering and Victorian styling. Using our bespoke service, when colour-matched to Farrow & Ball’s Calamine’ it brings your Bridgerton-esque drawing room dreams to life.
